Japan launches historic mission to bring back samples from Mars moon Phobos

Russia attempted a similar mission in 2011 with its Phobos-Grunt probe, but the spacecraft failed shortly after launch. The mission could also lay groundwork for future human exploration of Mars, as Izvestia reports.
