В России 18 сентября начались трёхдневные выборы в Государственную думу — первые парламентские выборы с начала полномасштабного вторжения в Украину в феврале 2022 года. Голосование продлится до 20 сентября, а первые участки открылись на Дальнем Востоке, в том числе в Удмуртии и Астраханской, Самарской, Саратовской и Ульяновской областях. Владимир Путин назвал явку «барометром» поддержки войны и призвал россиян проголосовать, отметив, что результаты должны подтвердить «зрелость и устойчивость» общества. Ожидается, что партия «Единая Россия» сохранит большинство в 450-местной Думе, поскольку к выборам допущены только партии, поддерживающие Кремль и продолжение конфликта; впервые в голосовании участвуют жители ДНР, ЛНР, Запорожской и Херсонской областей. Центризбирком объявил об усиленных мерах безопасности, а наблюдатели отмечают, что оппозиция практически отсутствует, а исход голосования предрешён.
