США второй год подряд отказали президенту Палестинской национальной администрации Махмуду Аббасу и другим палестинским официальным лицам в выдаче виз для участия в Генассамблее ООН в Нью-Йорке. Госдепартамент объяснил это тем, что палестинская сторона не выполнила взятые на себя обязательства, включая реформы, и продолжает действия, подрывающие перспективы мира. Генассамблея ООН 17 сентября проголосовала за то, чтобы разрешить Аббасу выступить на сессии по видеосвязи, как и в прошлом году. Резолюцию, осуждающую решение США и призывающую пересмотреть его, поддержали 152 страны.
