Martinez apologises to Man United board after criticism

–

Neutral summary

Lisandro Martinez has apologised to Manchester United's leadership after criticising the club's transfer policy. The incident followed the Champions League match against Atletico, when the Argentine defender said the squad lacked enough strong players. According to Daily Mail, Martinez arrived at the club's training ground for the first time since the controversy and met with head coach Michael Carrick as well as technical director Jason Wilcox, whom he had publicly criticised. RMC Sport reports the meeting took place on Thursday and the player apologised immediately. He said his comments were driven by frustration over the defeat. Manchester United have won only two of their nine matches and sit 13th in the Premier League. The Evening Standard asks whether Martinez will start against Leeds after the incident. Asharq Al-Awsat writes that the club's troubles are compounded by player outbursts amid a poor start to the season.
