US Coast Guard suspends search for six missing after Nantucket plane crash

–

Neutral summary

The US Coast Guard suspended its search for six people aboard a missing medical plane off Nantucket after approximately 66 hours, the agency said. The Gulfstream G100 was flying from Bermuda to Boston when it lost contact with flight controllers on Saturday morning. On board were four Canadians — two pilots and two medical crew — as well as a Bermudian patient and their relative. Searchers found a debris field belonging to the aircraft on Saturday evening, but no occupants were located. Flight data showed the aircraft lost communication after a significant drop in altitude. The flight's operator, Canadian company Latitude Air Ambulance, said all six are presumed dead. The rescue mission is now becoming a recovery operation to collect debris and sweep the ocean floor.
