Верховный суд США во вторник, 29 сентября, временно снял запрет на депортацию мигрантов в третьи страны, введённый ранее окружным судьёй Брайаном Мерфи из Бостона, который признал эту политику незаконной. Суд удовлетворил экстренный запрос Министерства юстиции и разрешил администрации Трампа возобновить высылку людей в государства, с которыми они никак не связаны, без возможности оспорить депортацию из-за риска пыток или преследования. Слушания по существу дела назначены на декабрь, окончательное решение ожидается к июлю 2027 года. По данным правозащитных групп, с момента введения практики в 2025 году более 25 тысяч мигрантов были депортированы в 29 стран, большинство — в Мексику. Нижестоящие суды требовали заранее уведомлять людей о высылке и давать им возможность заявить о рисках, однако Министерство внутренней безопасности США считает достаточными общие заверения принимающего государства. Это уже третье временное разрешение Верховного суда на реализацию этой меры. The Intercept в своём расследовании пишет о бизнесе, который выстраивается вокруг этой системы депортаций, а L'Humanité сообщает, что ICE планирует нанять 5 тысяч дополнительных агентов к концу 2026 года.
