Ранее О’Лири отказывался извиняться и в письме главе Дублинского кризисного центра помощи жертвам изнасилования Рэйчел Морроу защищал свои высказывания, утверждая, что назвал изнасилование «гнусным преступлением». Однако после того, как политики в Ирландии и Великобритании подвергли его резкой критике, а Морроу потребовала «быстрых извинений перед пережившими изнасилование и сексуальное насилие», он изменил свою позицию. По данным TheJournal.ie, в своём видеообращении О’Лири также заявил, что изнасилование — это «гнусное преступление, которое нельзя банализировать».
