Голоса разделились: шесть членов Комитета по денежно-кредитной политике выступили за сохранение ставки, трое — за её повышение до 4%. Регулятор предупредил, что инфляция в Великобритании может превысить 4% в начале следующего года, а затяжной конфликт на Ближнем Востоке способен потребовать ужесточения политики. Кроме того, Банк Англии объявил о пересмотре программы продажи гособлигаций, замедлив темпы количественного ужесточения и установив фиксированный годовой объём продаж в 20 млрд фунтов.
