В субботу, 12 сентября, в округе Джефферсон, штат Пенсильвания, от осложнений, вызванных корью, скончалась 40-летняя женщина. По данным коронера округа Грега Ферлонга, она не была вакцинирована и имела сопутствующие заболевания. Это уже третий случай смерти от кори в штате за год, при этом ранее в Пенсильвании от этой болезни умерли двое младенцев. По состоянию на пятницу в штате зарегистрировано 676 случаев кори в 37 из 67 округов, 124 пациента были госпитализированы. В США наблюдается крупнейшая за 35 лет вспышка этого высокозаразного заболевания, которое было объявлено ликвидированным в стране в 2000 году.
