Премьер-министр Великобритании Энди Бернэм заявил, что «национальная безопасность не может быть в ущерб социальной безопасности», и отказался сокращать пособия для увеличения оборонных расходов. На заседании PMQs он подверг критике предложение консерваторов сократить жилищные пособия на 4 млрд фунтов, предупредив, что это приведёт к массовой бездомности. Бернэм также не назвал точных сроков достижения оборонных расходов в 3% ВВП, хотя ранее предполагалось, что этот уровень будет достигнут к 2030 году. При этом его правительство подтвердило обещание довести расходы на оборону до 3,5% ВВП к 2035 году.
