Верховный суд США во второй раз за неделю отклонил запрос властей Миссури о применении новой карты избирательных округов, начерченной республиканцами и поддержанной президентом Дональдом Трампом. Судья Бретт Кавано, курирующий экстренные обращения из этого округа, отказался восстанавливать действие карты, которая, по оценкам, ликвидировала бы один округ, где побеждали демократы. Ранее Верховный суд штата постановил, что новые границы должны быть одобрены избирателями на референдуме, и запретил их использование на промежуточных выборах 3 ноября. После того как федеральный судья временно разрешил применять новую карту, Верховный суд США отменил это решение, обязав штат вернуться к прежней схеме 2022 года, которая даёт соотношение 6:2 в пользу республиканцев. Одновременно суд штата продолжил рассмотрение вопроса о привлечении госсекретаря Миссури Денни Хоскинса к ответственности за неуважение к суду за попытку использовать новые границы вопреки запрету.
