Средняя температура на леднике на высоте 5200 метров с 21 по 26 августа оценивалась примерно в 5 градусов Цельсия, тогда как за более чем 55 лет наблюдений в этот же период она не превышала 4 градусов. Прямой связи с обвалом пока не установлено. Число погибших в результате наводнений в Непале возросло до 1357 человек.
