Американские военные заявили, что потопили три иранских танкера, принадлежащих Корпусу стражей исламской революции, в ответ на запущенные Ираном баллистические ракеты по двум кораблям ВМС США. Иран, в свою очередь, объявил об ударах по трём судам, связанным с США, и заявил об атаке на беспилотный американский военный корабль, однако Центральное командование США назвало эти утверждения «абсолютной ложью». Спикер парламента Ирана Мохаммад Бакер Галибаф предупредил, что в случае новых американских атак Тегеран нанесёт удары по объектам американских нефтегазовых компаний в регионе, заявив: «Ударьте по нашим активам — и получите удар в ответ». Министр энергетики США Крис Райт в воскресных телеинтервью допустил, что ядерное соглашение с Ираном может быть не достигнуто, отметив, что «мы всегда открыты» для переговоров, но военное решение остаётся необходимым. На этом фоне цены на нефть выросли до шестинедельного максимума, а фьючерсы на Brent приблизились к $100 за баррель.
