Бёрнем заявил, что его первым международным гостем стало «так символично, что это наш ближайший сосед и близкий друг Эмманюэль», и высоко оценил сотрудничество с французским лидером. Число прибытий мигрантов этим летом стало самым низким с 2019 года, однако, по данным расследования BBC, преступные группы, столкнувшись с нехваткой малых лодок, объединяют ресурсы и перевозят больше людей на более крупных судах.
