Эксперты предупреждают, что каждая дополнительная доля градуса будет стоить жизней и приведёт к более разрушительным экстремальным погодным явлениям, таянию ледников и подъёму уровня моря, что особенно ударит по тихоокеанским островам, которые столкнутся с нехваткой продовольствия и пресной воды. В докладе выражается скептицизм в отношении технологий удаления CO2 из атмосферы и подчёркивается необходимость резкого сокращения выбросов парниковых газов.
