Двухдневная встреча министров финансов G20 в Эшвилле (Северная Каролина) завершилась принятием итогового заявления, которое поддержали все участники, кроме Китая. Глава Минфина США Скотт Бессент заявил, что Пекин заблокировал единогласное коммюнике из-за спора о его огромном торговом профиците и «нерыночной политике», усугубляющей дисбалансы. Кроме того, присутствие российского министра финансов Антона Силуанова, впервые приглашённого американской стороной с начала войны в Украине, вызвало недовольство европейских и канадских делегатов. Бессент, однако, защитил это приглашение, заявив: «Я знаю, что некоторые европейцы остались с горьким привкусом, но я думаю, что очень важно говорить» со всеми, включая Россию. По его словам, 19 стран G20 согласились ограничить поток дешёвого экспорта, создающий дисбалансы в мировой экономике, но Китай выразил несогласие.
