Полиция Шотландии начала расследование в связи с визитами брата короля Карла III Эндрю Маунтбеттен-Виндзора, осуждённого сексуального преступника Джеффри Эпштейна и его сообщницы Гислейн Максвелл в замок Балморал — частную резиденцию британской королевской семьи в Шотландии. Ранее, в феврале, полиция Шотландии заявляла, что хочет поговорить с людьми, имеющими информацию о рейсе 2006 года в аэропорт Эдинбурга, на котором Эндрю и Максвелл летели на самолёте Эпштейна. Опубликованные Министерством юстиции США фотографии, как сообщается, показывают Эндрю и Эпштейна на охоте в поместье. Эндрю Маунтбеттен-Виндзор всегда решительно отрицал какие-либо правонарушения. Первым о новом расследовании сообщила газета Daily Express, затем информацию подтвердили другие издания, включая New York Post и Sky News.
