Cette décision fait suite au soutien exprimé par Rooney à Palestine Action, un groupe d'action directe que le gouvernement britannique a interdit comme organisation terroriste en juillet 2025 ; le groupe n'est pas interdit en Irlande, où vit Rooney. Après l'interdiction, Rooney a déclaré qu'elle utiliserait les revenus de ses ventes de livres pour soutenir le groupe, ce qui, selon la loi britannique, pourrait constituer une infraction terroriste. Faber a déclaré que la législation britannique actuelle avait créé une situation dans laquelle il ne pouvait pas reverser à Rooney les revenus britanniques de son travail, et qu'en plein accord avec elle, il avait décidé de cesser de distribuer ses livres au Royaume-Uni sous quelque format que ce soit. Rooney a annulé un voyage au Royaume-Uni, craignant d'être arrêtée, et a déclaré avoir tout fait pour être honnête avec le public sur ses convictions et être pleinement prête à en accepter les conséquences. La ministre irlandaise des Affaires étrangères, Helen McEntee, a déclaré être « choquée » par cette décision et qu'elle soulèverait la question auprès de son homologue britannique, tandis que la ministre britannique des compétences, la baronne Jacqui Smith, a dit être « désolée » que l'accès aux livres soit limité, mais a insisté sur le fait que l'interdiction avait suivi un « processus rigoureux ». Les librairies britanniques se précipiteraient pour stocker les œuvres de Rooney avant que les distributeurs ne soient à court, un libraire de Belfast affirmant qu'il continuerait à vendre ses livres tant qu'il pourrait s'en procurer. La cofondatrice de Palestine Action, Huda Ammori, poursuivrait une contestation judiciaire contre le gouvernement britannique pour annuler l'interdiction.
