Les enquêteurs allèguent qu'Alfozan aurait pu utiliser des outils d'IA pour fabriquer le dispositif, et un second dispositif similaire a ensuite été trouvé dans son sac. Il risque jusqu'à cinq ans de prison et une amende de 250 000 dollars. OpenAI a indiqué n'avoir trouvé aucune preuve de fuite de données utilisateurs, de code source ou de paramètres de modèles d'IA. Certains médias, dont The Register et Middle East Eye, rapportent que le dispositif était connecté à une télévision, tandis que Business Insider note qu'il coûtait environ 24 dollars. L'entreprise a déclaré prendre au sérieux la protection de ses technologies et de ses données, qualifiant cette affaire d'importance nationale.
