Suspect du meurtre de Widdecombe inculpé pour un prétendu complot terroriste visant Farage

La police a indiqué que les nouvelles charges concernent des faits commis entre mai 2024 et juillet 2026, les deux années précédant son arrestation. La ministre de l'Intérieur, Shabana Mahmood, a promis une mise à jour sur la protection des députés, tandis que le secrétaire d'État aux Affaires étrangères, comme le rapporte Rzeczpospolita, a déclaré que cette inculpation susciterait une énorme inquiétude. Par ailleurs, le vice-président de Reform UK, Richard Tice, a déclaré que les inquiétudes concernant la sécurité de Farage n'avaient 'pas été écoutées'. Le même jour, la police britannique a également annoncé que deux ressortissants iraniens avaient été inculpés pour préparation d'une attaque terroriste contre la communauté juive du nord de l'Angleterre avant Yom Kippour. Plus tôt, le 1er octobre, la police antiterroriste britannique avait annoncé l'arrestation à Londres d'un homme de 25 ans, de double nationalité britannique et iranienne, soupçonné de préparation d'actes terroristes en lien avec l'incident de dimanche près de la base aérienne de RAF Fairford, utilisée par les États-Unis ; cinq Britanniques d'une vingtaine d'années arrêtés près de la base ont été placés en détention.
