U2 a annoncé son premier album de nouvelles chansons en près d'une décennie, Carnaval de Luz, prévu pour le 13 novembre. La sortie coïncide avec le 50e anniversaire du groupe, marquant cinq décennies depuis leur première répétition en 1976. Bono a confirmé le titre de l'album dans un podcast avec The Irish Times, décrivant le matériel comme « puissant ». L'album comprend un duo entre Bono et Dolly Parton, qui serait sa dernière performance vocale enregistrée ; Parton est décédée en août à l'âge de 80 ans. La chanson, intitulée Torn, est décrite comme parlant de liens familiaux brisés. Bono a déclaré à Rolling Stone que Parton « s'est levée de son lit pour chanter cette chanson », ayant enregistré ses parties vocales en juin alors qu'elle luttait contre un cancer.
