Élections en Israël : le bloc de Netanyahou échoue à obtenir la majorité, des négociations de coalition en perspective

Lors des élections tenues le 27 octobre, le bloc soutenant le Premier ministre Benyamin Netanyahou a remporté 53 des 120 sièges de la Knesset, le bloc d'opposition dirigé par l'ancien chef d'état-major Gadi Eisenkot en a obtenu 48, et les partis arabes 19. Comme 61 sièges sont requis pour former un gouvernement, aucun camp n'a atteint la majorité. Au sein du bloc pro-Netanyahou, le Likoud a remporté 27 sièges, Otzma Yehudit sept, United Torah Judaism sept, l'alliance Sionisme religieux–Zeut six, et Shas six. Dans le bloc d'opposition, Yashar! a obtenu 21 sièges, BeYahad 12, les Démocrates huit, et Yisrael Beiteinu sept. Les partis arabes ont ensemble remporté 19 sièges : la Liste commune en a pris 11 et Raam huit. Netanyahou cherche à discréditer la percée électorale sans précédent des partis arabes, invoquant des ingérences étrangères, notamment du Qatar, et affirmant que l'élection a été « volée ». Les autorités israéliennes ont ouvert une enquête mais ont rejeté toute suggestion de « fraude systémique ». Les résultats certifiés devraient être présentés au président Isaac Herzog le 4 novembre. L'opposition a entamé des discussions sur la formation d'un gouvernement, les partis arabes pouvant potentiellement jouer un rôle décisif. Le Jerusalem Post note que l'opposition avait toutes les raisons de gagner par une écrasante majorité, mais qu'Eisenkot n'a offert aucune vision au-delà du remplacement d'un gouvernement défaillant. Fox News rapporte que des alliés ultra-orthodoxes de Netanyahou envisageraient de rompre les rangs pour soutenir Eisenkot. Die Welt suggère que, pour Netanyahou, de nouvelles élections pourraient être la meilleure option.
