In Italy, the annual rate reached 4.2%, the highest since September 2023, driven largely by a sharp acceleration in regulated energy inflation (25.8% versus 18.6%) amid prolonged tensions in the Middle East. Wirtschaftswoche notes that high energy prices are pushing inflation well above the ECB target, with consequences for interest rates and savers. The ECB, as CNN Brasil recalls, had already raised rates in June and September of this year, yet the current figure remains far above its 2% goal.
