iPhone Duo pre-orders sell out in minutes, deliveries slip to 2027

–

Neutral summary

Pre-orders for Apple's first foldable iPhone Duo opened on October 16 at 2pm CET (8am ET) and sold out within minutes. Within an hour of the pre-order launch, delivery estimates on Apple's website slipped to late January 2027 for all configurations, despite the official release date of October 23. According to Gizmodo, delivery dates jumped to November just five minutes after pre-orders opened. In the UK, deliveries are also delayed until late January 2027, and in-store pickup is unavailable. The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 (€2,339, £1,999) for the 256GB version and goes up to £3,199 for the highest configuration, making it the most expensive smartphone Apple has ever released. The device features the A20 Pro chip, a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display, a Grade 5 titanium frame and IP68 certification. Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo at its "Surprise and shine" event alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Apple Watch Series 12. According to La Nación, production issues have limited available stock. Some outlets, including The Verge and Xataka, report that Apple's website also experienced technical problems during the pre-order window.
