–

Neutral summary

Actress Selma Blair, known for roles in "Cruel Intentions" and "Legally Blonde," was arrested on Sunday evening, October 12, at New York's John F. Kennedy Airport following an incident on a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles. According to TMZ and other US outlets, the 54-year-old allegedly tried to open the plane door during the flight, punched one flight attendant in the face and bit another. Two crew members required medical attention, with one suffering a broken nose and the other bite marks. After landing, Blair allegedly also attacked a police officer and a nurse while being transported to a hospital, kicking them, according to court documents. On Monday, October 13, the actress appeared in court in New York, where she pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault. The judge set bail at $80,000, which was posted. A representative for Blair said she suffered a "medical emergency," and her lawyer said she has been diagnosed with Parkinsonism. The Daily Mail reports Blair could face up to seven years in prison. Blair previously wrote in her 2022 memoir about a habit of biting people, explaining that her "system gets overwhelmed and instantaneously short-circuits."
