Trump posts AI video with tiger that killed British man
–
Neutral summary
US President Donald Trump on Tuesday posted on his Truth Social platform an AI-generated clip in which he, wearing a suit and tie, chases down, tackles and hugs an Amur tiger. Hours earlier he had shared the actual footage of the same predator attacking 23-year-old British man William Chapman at Yorkshire Wildlife Park on Saturday. The young man, who suffered from significant mental illness, jumped into the enclosure himself; a woman visiting the zoo with two children tried to hold him back but failed. Chapman died from his injuries; the tiger, named Altai, born in 2022 at a zoo in Kristiansand, Norway, and moved to Yorkshire in 2025, will not be euthanised. The victim's family, describing him as 'brilliant, warm and affectionate', condemned the posting and spread of 'deeply offensive' material, saying it causes them 'extreme additional distress' at this vulnerable time. Trump accompanied the real video with the caption 'Don't ever mess with nature!', while the AI clip features The Lion Sleeps Tonight by The Tokens. Several outlets, including the Evening Standard and The Independent, report the video was shown to Trump's 13 million followers; The Mirror and Daily Mail give differing ages for the victim — 23 and 24 respectively.
