The Russian newspaper reports that Bushby covered about 50,000 kilometers, while Daily Express and New York Post estimate the distance at 31,000 miles (about 50,000 kilometers). The Jerusalem Post notes that Bushby hacked through jungles, crossed the ice between Alaska and Russia, and swam the English Channel. Deutsche Welle mentions that one obstacle was a visa refusal from Russia. Le Monde adds that Bushby began the journey after his divorce, when his wife moved to Northern Ireland with their son. France 24 quotes Bushby: “They say it takes a village. In this case, it took a world.”
