Jay-Z to headline 2027 Super Bowl halftime show

–

Neutral summary

Jay-Z will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show on Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, the NFL announced Monday during Monday Night Football with a black-and-white ad featuring the rapper. It will be the 56-year-old's first performance at the championship game, though his company Roc Nation has helped select and produce the halftime show since 2019. "From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey. Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world's biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true," Jay-Z said in a statement quoted by multiple outlets. This year marks the 30th anniversary of his debut album Reasonable Doubt. Jay-Z is a 25-time Grammy winner and four-time Emmy winner. Forbes reports he will be the richest halftime headliner ever, with early betting odds indicating his wife Beyoncé, also a billionaire, is a leading contender to join him on stage. The game will be broadcast on ABC for the first time in two decades, and simultaneously on ESPN and Disney+ for the first time, according to O Globo. Fortune notes the decision drew immediate backlash over optics, while Die Welt reports there were apparently problems finding another artist.
