Cavaliers rout 76ers 119-95, LeBron held to 8 points in Cleveland return

–

Neutral summary

The Cleveland Cavaliers routed the Philadelphia 76ers 119-95 in an NBA Cup group stage game on Friday night in Cleveland. LeBron James, who chose to sign with Philadelphia in the offseason rather than return to Cleveland for a third stint, had a rough night: he scored just 8 points on 3-of-12 shooting, including 0-for-4 from beyond the arc, in 31 minutes. It was only the 10th time in his 1,630 NBA regular-season games that James scored in single digits. The Akron, Ohio, native was booed by Cavaliers fans every time he touched the ball in the first half, though he received a warm reception when he was the last 76ers starter introduced. Donovan Mitchell led Cleveland with 23 points, and Evan Mobley added 22. The 76ers suffered their second loss in 10 games, shooting a poor 36.5% from the field. Joel Embiid also had a rare poor stat line, joining James in an unwanted piece of NBA history. After the game, James said, “I know I damn sure wasn't good at all.” The Cavaliers, who had been struggling recently, bounced back with the win.
