Neutral summary
Sir Patrick Stewart, the British stage and screen actor, has died at the age of 86. The announcement was made on his social media accounts: he died on October 28 at his home in Los Angeles, surrounded by family, after a "brief and poignant journey" with Alzheimer's disease and Lewy body dementia. Stewart was known for his roles as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (1987–1994) and Professor Charles Xavier in the "X-Men" films. He was also a major figure in British theatre, having played dozens of classical roles, including Othello, Macbeth, and Mark Antony. Colleagues and friends paid tribute: Ian McKellen called him "the most respected and beloved actor," and Hugh Jackman and William Shatner also honored him. According to Forbes, Marvel confirmed that Stewart's 26-year run as Professor X will end with "Avengers: Doomsday." Players of Star Trek Online are holding public vigils in memory of the actor. Outlets note that his character Picard inspired generations of scientists. Some media, including O Globo, recall that Stewart in his later years regretted being estranged from his children.
