Aston Villa hand Man City first Premier League defeat of season
–
Neutral summary
Aston Villa defeated Manchester City 2-1 at Villa Park on Saturday, October 24, ending the Premier League leaders' perfect start to the season. Nicolas Jackson scored twice, in the 6th and 60th minutes, either side of an Erling Haaland header, to give Unai Emery's side the win. Manchester City had won all seven of their previous league matches this season under Enzo Maresca. Several outlets, including RMC Sport and Nova.rs, reported that the second goal followed an error by Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The defeat left Manchester City top of the table but allowed Arsenal to draw level on points, with the London club still to play their match of the round. Manchester City have now lost their last four league games at Villa Park. The win was Aston Villa's sixth in their last seven matches, as noted by Sky Sports and other sources. Maresca, according to Channel NewsAsia, lamented costly errors by his side.
