The entire city of about 250,000 people was sealed off by checkpoints at every entry point. Netanyahu was reported to have said the army had prepared an operation in the West Bank on a scale “not seen since the Six-Day War.” The Palestinian Authority described the actions as a “systematic policy” and urged international intervention. Reports differ on the number of displaced: from 250 families (Al-Monitor, Euronews) to about 2,000 people (NRK, RFI, La Nación). An Irish activist, Ian Hutcheson, was among those detained by Israeli authorities in the West Bank and was expected to fly home.
